18th March 2026
We left on Wednesday 18th March and drove to a little CL site called Foxholes which we had found on Search4sites where we would stay for one night.

We opened the gates at Foxholes and were met by the owner who guided us to our pitch near the facility block. There was a toilet, shower, microwave, fridge/freezer and the usual water and waste dump areas and it was £15 per night.
Our pitch had a lovely clear view of the field with a pond and the valley. In the dryer months it is possible to park next to the pond if the grass is dry enough.
We sat in the sun for an hour before deciding to explore, we had found a few pubs nearby!
We got the e-bikes ready and headed for The Knightley arms which was about 2Km away. We sat inside for a couple of pints and then headed back to the van, in the dark!
19th
The heater is on as it is a bit nippy this morning. Andy made the tea and we decided to risk sitting outside with our porridge as the sun was shining quite brightly now.

Andy sent the drone up for a quick birds eye view of the sight.
We met a chap who was parked nearby, his name was Marcus and he asked us if we could give him our opinion on the value of his motorhome which he wanted to sell. It needed some work and a clean up but we had a nice chat and we think we helped him a bit.
We packed our stuff away and hit the road again heading for the Aldi at Nantwich but we stopped at the Stafford services on the M6 for some noodles from 'Chozen' which we had not tried before. They were very nice!
Onwards then to Nantwich to stock up with groceries at Aldi and then on to The Dusty Miller pub stop for our 2nd night.

Having parked in the empty car park we locked up and went in for a lovely plum porter.
A walk up to the swing bridge and the canal boat hire area and then back to the van.
We popped into the pub in the evening for a starters each followed by a couple of double Jamesons to help us sleep.
The is no EE signal here but WiFi is available in the pub.
20th
There was a bit of road noise last night due to the farm traffic but it didn't go on too late. It did start again early in the morning but that's to be expected if you park near farm land.
We went for a walk along the canal in the morning and as we left the van a couple of dog walkers parked in front of us even though the car park was empty!!!

Wierd, however as we returned to the van they were leaving so all was well.
We left The Dusty Miller and drove to The Bickerton Poacher where the Paddy's day rally was being held meeting James and Shaun who guided us to our pitch on the grass, lovely.
We set up and went in to the pub to meet everyone and chat about the weekend.
The evening approached and we all enjoyed the singer whilst swilling vast quantities of ales etc.
Nearly everyone dressed up with an Irish theme and it was a great night.
21st
Today we played music bingo, we all sat around in a circle in the pub car park for about an hour until it got cold as the sun disappeared behind the building and we sloped off to the warmth of the indoors.
Later we had a 'guided' walk up Bulkley hill woods where we got some great views across the valley towards the Welsh border and Wrexham.
Back to base after a very tiring but enjoyable walk and it was time to get our Irish 'Paddy's day' outfits on and get over to the pub.
The band was fantastic and they played all of the classic tunes that you would expect to hear at a Paddy's day party. We dances and drank and sang all through the evening until it was time to hit the sack. What a great evening!
22nd
It is Sunday and the rally is over but we have time for a Sunday roast at the carvery in the pub with our friends Mark 'Swifty' Swift and his wife Collette. We sat down and ate the lovely roast dinner and a pint to wash it down and then Collette insisted on paying the bill, Thank you Collette and Mark!
We said our goodbyes to the couples that were leaving and decided to stay for one more night as we planned to head up to Liverpool from here and we couldn't get onto our pitch at the marina until tomorrow so we paid the £15 for the pitch and went back to the van to sleep off the roast dinner.
Evening came and we returned to the bar where the quiz night was being held. We were one of only three couples taking part and it was more like university challenge or Mastermind, the questions were so hard and cryptic. Needless to say we came third!
23rd
We are off to Liverpool today so we packed up and set off north deciding to by-pass Birkenhead and the ferry terminal area and stayed east and routed around the Mersey at Runcorn and Widnes which was still busy but we saw some great sights as we drove past Sefton park and St. Michael's hamlet towards the marina at Brunswick dock and our pitch for the next two nights.
We parked up and set off to see some Liverpool sights.
The Cavern was an obvious place to visit and we sat and soaked up the atmosphere, and a few pints, whilst listening to some acoustic tunes.
After the Cavern we were still thirsty so we popped in to the White Star, a famous pub linked to the White star line, the shipping company famous for, amongst others, The Titanic.
In the pub the walls were covered in memorabelia of the Titanic and the music and artists from the 60's including, of course, The beatles.
We got on the bikes and rode back to the van, locked them up and headed for the bar, entrance to which was included in the pitch fee. We sat for an hour and reflected on the day that we had experienced and looked forward to tomorrow as we had booke not only a boat trip along the Mersey but a guided open top beatles experience bus ride.
24th
We opted to walk to the pier head on George parade and got there in plenty of time to have a mocha in the little cafe before boarding the boat.

There was an audio guide via an app which we downloaded and it automatically told you about the part of town, the buildings and the particular point that you were at in real time. Although there were notices advising users to use headphones so as not to disturb other sight see'ers there were a few who had the audio on their phones up loud enough so that we could all hear it....very annoying!

Back to the pier head we disembarked and had a walk to the Albert dock where we were reminded of the 'weather man' who used to do the weather from the floats of parts of the British Isles in the Albert dock, jumping from one float to another.

We browsed around a wierd shop which had Harry Potter stuff and random memorabelia.

Then we made our way to the bus stop and took some photos of the 'Old wall arch' which was a part of the remains of the city wall.

The bus journey took us all around Liverpool centre, through the areas where the Beatles met, we went to Penny Lane and Strawberry fields and saw John and Pauls original houses where they grew up and eventually met each other.

It started to rain near the end of the tour and we sat downstairs to get out of the rain. It was a really good experience, the bus driver dropped us of at our stop near to the van and we made our way to the bar for a couple of drinks before settleing down for the evening.
25th
We leave Liverpool today and start to make our way south.
