Our next trip would be a bit further away. We found a site just north west of Royston called Ashridge farm. This time we would hook up and fill the water tank and boiler so we would be using all of the facilities. The site cost us £36.40 for two nights. There was fresh water, 16 amp hook up, drive over grey waste disposal, black waste area, recycling, showers, laundry and shop. We set off on Friday 18th January 2019 at 6pm and arrived at 7pm. We had pitch number 2 again. The site is a touring site, no club house or playground. Happy days. Sue cooked a great curry using the gas/electric hob and microwave and we had a night in and then off to bed.
In the morning I walked the dog and then breakfast before setting off to walk to the village of Ashwell. After a couple of great pints of 'Landlord' in the Rose and crown we visited the church, St Mary's to see the "Famous graffiti" There is a proper butcher shop in the village (which was shut at 1pm on a Saturday!) There was a garden which was started by a local resident who lived in a cottage in the village. He built the garden from nothing and now it is being maintained by the villagers in his memory.
On the way back to the motor home we stopped at The three tuns for a couple of whiskey's. Lovely.
